The RedCat Racing Tornado s30 is among many of the nitro gas powered rc cars with a 1/10th scale. It appears standard that it has a 2.4GHz radio system and 3.0cc SH-18 nitro engine having a precisely tuned aluminum exhaust pipe, and performance header provide the power and precision needed to blow away the competition. In addition, it includes front and back aluminum oil filled shocks with threaded bodies with knurled adjusters for ride height and spring tension. Full ball bearings round out the package. One might recognize the chassis. It is the just like what is used within the Lightning series touring cars, Volcano Monster trucks, and Vortex desert trucks. The original equipment manufacturer is Himoto.
By changing suspension arms, wheels and tires, body mounts, and shocks we are four distinct models with various RC life missions as well as a common list of parts easily obtainable from RedCat Racing. Most RC manufacturers carry out the ditto. Based on my exposure to this chassis before, it is usually a durable and efficient design. The main chassis plate is really a plastic composite through an aluminum upper plate that locates the front and back diffs and gearboxes. Connecting the 2 gearboxes is undoubtedly an aluminum drive shaft. The suspension is four wheel independent and possesses adjustable upper links and other shock mounting points. If you’re looking for nitro gas powered rc cars on ebay, you couldn’t find a better option for this price I don’t think. The buggys tires don’t have any foam inserts, but plenty of sidewall strength that balances with decent tread design for multi – surface and all terrain driving options.
Anyway, for my first run I have to say all was really good. Ample acceleration, great handling, and solid radio signal. The steering servo was, adequate; if intending to race using a track, a faster servo may well be a future upgrade. Nothing broke despite a couple of cart wheels and hits while seeking to video and drive concurrently. I for one am in love with this nitro rc buggy. For $288 canadian street / internet price one gets a lot for their money. The nitro system alone will be worth $120 – $155. The chassis is capable and you will find many parts online. As for hobby shops having parts….maybe not. I would rather use the internet coming from a reputable dealer. The Tornado s30 easily compares favorably with elementary RTR kits….along with respect to speed and handling….blows the offending vehicles out of the water. If you’re due for nitro gas powered rc cars and don’t know where to start, start with cheap nitro rc cars like the S30, which don’t lose quality with it’s price!
